The Purity Killings

In 1940 Shanghai, after Zheng Pingru's failed honey-trap assassination of collaborator Ding Mocun, a shadowy cabal calling itself the Celestial Balance emerges. Using a twisted algorithm that claims to predict criminal nature, they begin publicly executing those deemed "latent threats" — patriots and traitors alike. As the city descends into paranoia, a young journalist discovers that Zheng's mission files hide the key to the organization's origin. He must unravel the truth before he, too, is judged a future criminal, in a world where the boundary between justice and terror has vanished.
