The Pristine Aisle

In the rain-slicked metropolis of Port Velant, a serial killer is staging elaborate murders based on iconic literary works, transforming the city into a sprawling crime scene that pays homage to classic novels. Former war correspondent Julian Croft, now a disgraced crime reporter haunted by a supermarket slip-and-fall that shattered his spine and his moral certitude, discovers the pattern while investigating the brutal death of a corporate executive arranged like a scene from Dostoevsky. As the killings escalate, Croft must navigate a labyrinth of literary allusion, corporate negligence, and his own crumbling ethics, realizing that in the face of true survival, every civilized pretense becomes a sick joke.
