Novel Summary
In the rust-belt city of Verlaine, a lone tow-truck driver named Elias Voss begins live-streaming his killings under the alias "The Nullifier." Each murder is a meticulously staged ritual—abandoned lots, midnight highways, broken-down vehicles—broadcast to a global audience that watches with morbid fascination. As detective Lena Marchetti hunts him, she uncovers that Voss is not a monster but a ghost: a man so thoroughly erased by society—ignored by employers, overlooked by neighbors, invisible to the system—that he chooses annihilation as his only form of self-inscription. The novel probes the dark symbiosis between spectator and spectacle, and asks whether the real crime is the killing or the collective gaze that consumes it.
