In the hyper-modern yet tradition-bound island nation of Shinkoku, a brutal murder mimicking a classic novel’s opening scene shatters the polished veneer of high society. Disgraced journalist-turned-tabloid writer Ryo Munakata is drawn into a labyrinth of literary crime scenes, each a macabre tribute to a celebrated work. As the city of Miyako becomes a stage for ritualistic killings, Munakata must navigate a world where corrupt elites, desperate police, and a killer with a poetic manifesto blur the line between justice and survival.
