Novel Summary
In the fictional European nation of Nordmark, a leaked document from the landmark administrative case "Nordmark v. Pan-Continental Social Security Commission" falsely brands archivist Linus Falk as a traitor who sold out pensioners. A viral mob on the platform VoxPop orchestrates a digital crucifixion that drives him to jump from the Spire of Commerce. Ten years later, his sister Freja, a cyberneticist who faked her own drowning, emerges from the shadows. Using a proprietary bio-acoustic algorithm, she turns the hateful words of the 53 most vicious commentators into their own death warrants. Inspector Maximilian von Strauss, a weary investigator haunted by his own inaction during the original lynching, must navigate a labyrinth of perfectly staged accidents. The investigation becomes a meditation on guilt and retribution, forcing Strauss to confront the unsettling truth: the boundary of justice is often drawn not by law, but by the one who dares to pull the first thread of vengeance.
