Wesseldyk v. The International Motorsports Hall of Fame Foundation et al

On April 23, 2025, veteran motorsports figure Robert Wesseldyk filed a civil action in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama against The International Motorsports Hall of Fame Foundation and its executive director, Thomas J. Barrett. Wesseldyk, a former racing driver and team owner with decades of participation in endurance and sports car racing, alleged that the Foundation had arbitrarily and capriciously denied his induction despite meeting the published criteria. The complaint asserted that the selection committee violated its own bylaws by introducing undisclosed subjective standards and conflicts of interest.
