Bihar Darbhanga Fake Admission Letter and Scholarship Scam

In 2025, Darbhanga police in Bihar, India, busted a racket that defrauded students with fake university admission letters and bogus scholarship promises. The gang, led by Rohit Kumar along with Amarjeet Kumar, Pappu Kumar, and Rekha Devi, posed as education consultants offering guaranteed seats in Punjab-based universities coupled with government scholarships. They collected large sums from predominantly rural students and issued forged admission letters. When victims attempted to enroll, the fraud was exposed. Over fifty students were cheated out of millions of rupees. Police arrested the key accused and seized counterfeit documents. The scam had been operating for several months, exploiting aspirations for higher education.
